Notes on Analee

Analee was recommened for the National Junior Honor Society. I'm not very familiar with it and when I told Kyle he said he was in the National Honor Society when he was in high school and it wasn't all that great. He said it was just a way to make money and all he got was his name in a book somewhere. Despit his feelings about it, I am very proud of Analee. She will become an official member on April 7 during the inductee ceremony. She will have to do seven hours of community service a semester and opportunities for that are right in the school. She has to keep her grades above a 92%, she will have to attend the NJHS meetings twice a month and of course, behave well in school. She also tried out for the Bowman soccer team and since there were only 8 girls who showed up to try-outs, she made the team. She is the only non-spanish speaking girl on the team and three of the girls only speak spanish. She said it was kind of difficult practicing because the other girls only spoke spanish to each other, even the ones who knew english, and she couldn't understand any of them. They only passed the ball to each other because they only communicated in spanish. She was a bit dejected at that but still wants to be on the team. She will have practice every Thursday after school and will need to work hard at figuring out and keeping to a schedule to get her homework done. I'm glad she is getting involved with good activities and good people. This past weekend was a busy one for her. She had several projects due, none of which she brought home to work on during the week until Thursday. Most of them were due on Friday. I hope she learned a lesson from that. We were up late on Thursday and up early on Friday to get everything done.
