My parents came to Australia for Christmas. It was wonderful having them here. We had plenty of sight-seeing planned. On Monday after Christmas, we took a day trip down the Great Ocean Road. This sign is placed all along the road obviously for all the bloody tourists who can't remember.
This beach was our first stop but it was freezing so we didn't stay very long.
Most of the Great Ocean Road is narrow and windy so we took it slow. We stopped in the surf town of Apollo Bay. This was the view just before you walked onto the beach. How beautiful is that?!
While Analee, my parents and I walked through the town and looked through the shops, Kyle took the boys to the beach and began building this sand castle which turned into just a sand mound. They decided they wanted to make high and then just destroy it.
My mom decided that she didn't come all the way to Australia just to look at the water so she took of her shoes and socks and walked in it. It was very cold but she and Jacob had a few fun minutes together.
Then came the destroying part.
Our next stop was the Twelve Apostles. These are rock formations along the coastline. There used to be 12 but now there are only about 6-8 left.
It's amazing to think that these formations were once all joined together. Nature is does amazing things and creates such beautiful sights.
My parents had wandered off further along the route so I didn't get to take a picture of them here.
However, nature is not completely without peril. If this isn't clear enough, I don't what is.
On the way home, we stopped for dinner at KFC. That morning, we left our house at 8:15 am and arrived home at 8:00 pm. It wasn't planned that way but it worked out perfectly. It was a gorgeous day spent with the best people.
