Happy 11th Birthday Jacob
We celebrated Jacob's 11th birthday while we were in Oregon. I realize his birthday was in July and this is now the end of November but better late than never, right? I bought an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen with a great picture of a trout on it. It was perfect for Jacob.
The birthday boy who looks like he just wanted to get the celebration over with and get back outside.
Grandma Winkel, Jacob, Kyle, Sam, and Analee is holding her darling baby cousin, Gerrit, on her lap.
And here we see Grandpa Winkel.
Grandma Winkel gave Jacob a picture of one of her Carter relatives, Jesse Carter. It was the last picture taken of him before he died in the Civil War and he had sent the picture home to his family. Jacob had been listening to Grandma tell stories of her Carter relatives and he was very excited to receive this picture. He keeps it standing on his dresser.

What a fun birthday! I want to see that picture some time!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have recorded the stories of Jesse Carter from Grandma Winkel. They need to be in his Book of Family History. Mmm, mmm. Did you save a piece of cake for me?
